Feedback Requested

I really need some help with this one! I had been working on this design for what felt like forever, only finally creating it today.
However, my clay skills are not that great yet, so it didn't come out quite as I hoped...

Made out of various polymer clays.

Should I just remove the bottom "spinal cord" or try to rework it?
Honest opinions and feedback are truly and greatly appreciated.
